Bud's Automobile Recommendations

Bud's Automobile Recommendations

I think I’ve got a bead on what you are looking for. I’ve compiled some cars and trucks for you to consider. I’ve limited myself to vehicles with dealerships located within 30’s minutes of your house. This limitation eliminates pretty much all of the luxury brands, but stealth wealth is always better when it comes to cars.

The Siberian Hip-Hop Scene is HILARIOUS

The Siberian Hip-Hop Scene is HILARIOUS

I like to pick a place on the map and just study it for an hour or two. I've done it all my life, and I'm still only like 2% into it. A few nights ago it was Tomsk, Siberia. I came across the above video while researching local businesses, I found this gem called the SkillzSchool.

Other than having a bodacious rear end, there is literally nothing going on in this video.

Porsche Wants to Tell You About Its Microsite

Porsche Wants to Tell You About Its Microsite

So there I am, checking out the the Panamera page on Porsche.com, when I come across what looks like a place holder that someone forgot to replace with actual marketing copy. “Interactive Microsite” is just the hook Porsche needs to sell more Panameras. I get through a paragraph that basically just states “this is a sporty sedan” and then I’m promted to “start web special.”

Just Added 9 BHP Per Wheel

Just Added 9 BHP Per Wheel

TRD’s cold air intake was a pretty good upgrade on my Tundra, but nothing beats this value. It’s an OEM part, so there’s a multiplier effect. I assume I’m running somewhere in the low 11’s at this point.

Seriously though, I’m enjoying this truck, even if I already had to replace some missing valve stem caps after just a month.

"Cause it do get mighty crowded"

"Cause it do get mighty crowded"

I’m fascinated with caravans. I don’t think I’d have occasion to ever use one all that often, but the idea of my car ALSO being my bed is just an unavoidable fetish for me.

I’m not sure how I went this long and missed this, but this trailer that was never actually for sale is exactly what I want.

Toyota Dealership Failed To Oil My Filter

Toyota Dealership Failed To Oil My Filter

Had to vent to someone who knew what I was talking about.

I went to Miracle Toyota in Florida today to get my 30K mile service for my Tundra. Not only did they “absolutely recommend” $400 worth of shit I didn’t need. They essentially handed me back a car with no air filter.

On check in I told the service writer that it was a TRD filter and required a cleaning+oil kit, and that if they didn’t...

I'm Looking For  Trailer That Doesn't Exist

I'm Looking For  Trailer That Doesn't Exist

I want a trailer, but I have a specific need for one that apparently isn’t often accommodated in the world of camper trailers. I want JUST a bed, with an AC on top. No kitchen, no bathroom, no dining area, just an bedroom you can air condition.

My question is, is there a name for this sort of configuration that I’m just not finding in my searches, or am I going to have to custom make a trailer...

Chevy Tries to Use a GIF, Fails

Chevy Tries to Use a GIF, Fails

While in a fit of daydreaming last night I came across a nice little presentation page about the Corvette Z06. I was delighted to see the use of a subtle GIF in this page's design, something I'm a fan of in my professional work.

My delight was was quickly converted into rage though, out of everything they could have animated on this sucker they chose to animate the temperature gauge. Not the...

How Does One Shop for a Classic Car?

How Does One Shop for a Classic Car?

My Dad keeps buying long bodied BMW 7-Series and they keep being total disappointments. So we went car shopping together and I got to the root of his problem. He wants a car that he likes to drive, but also one that can accommodate passengers comfortably.

I have him considering a two-car solution instead: a comfy big SUV and a fun classic car. For what he's spending on 7-serieses (about $90K)...

Carbureted Engines Are Prettier

Carbureted Engines Are Prettier

Today's EFI engines are more powerful, more efficient, more environmentally friendly, and last longer with less maintenance. But they just don't have the same character as their forebearers. On the rare occasion you do get a glimpse behind their plastic shame covers you're often met by a boring block of metal utterly devoid of embellishment and character.

Take Ford Motor Company's regal 427...

Real Talk About Leasing, A Personal Case Study

Real Talk About Leasing, A Personal Case Study

My wife and I bought a new 2011 Outback in 2011 with the MSRP (got it for a little less) of about $26,626 to replace her Accord. The following year we replaced my Aurora with a leased 2012 Nissan Maxima with an MSRP of $41,650.

Now, all said and done, the total cost for leasing my Maxima for 39 months will end up being $19,907. I'm almost done with the lease and I've actually been reasonably...

Psst, Hey, Want to See Some Boss Mustangs?

Psst, Hey, Want to See Some Boss Mustangs?

Like the Challenger Daytona, Plymouth Superbird and the Camaro Z/28 the Boss 302 and 429 were homologation specials. Their purpose was to satisfy the rules of racing series that required OEMs to actually produce and sell the motors they used in races.

The 302 actually made some sense, in that the motor would actually fit in the Mustang. The 429, was a “semi-hemi” and was made to compete in...

What $100,000 Sports Car Would You Daily?

What $100,000 Sports Car Would You Daily?

I need Oppinions. This is a fairly specific scenario, I know, but it’s an actual existing situation , so try and pretend.

Say you were going lease a new sports cars that’s $80-$120K. You live an hour away from any luxury dealerships (but every brand is within right about an hour). If the car breaks down it’s a PITA, unless the dealership comes and gets it. Look, sound and feel are more...

How Do I Visit a Porsche Dealership?

How Do I Visit a Porsche Dealership?

My dad wants to buy a Cayman or a 911 as his next car. He’s spent most of the past decade in 7-Series BMWs and his lease runs up in the next few weeks. He was about to hop into yet another 750, but they are redesigned for 2016 and won’t be available til the fall. As a joke I offered that I’d get a crew cab truck to trade with him when he needed cargo or passenger capacity if he’s get a fun...

Why Toyotas Are Unexpectedly Lovable Objects

Why Toyotas Are Unexpectedly Lovable Objects

This is just an anecdotal reflection on my experiences. I’m not bringing facts or figures to bare, just my own experience such as it is.

I’ve owned at least two cars from each of the big three US manufacturers, at least one from each of the big three in Japan, plus a Subaru, 2 VWs, 2 Volvos, and so on. I have access to a slew of luxury, even a few super cars owned by friends and family, I go...

Toyota Beat Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren to the Modern Hypercar Format

Toyota Beat Porsche, Ferrari, and McLaren to the Modern Hypercar Format

With loads of carbon fiber, scissor doors, a hybrid drivetrain, and its mid-engine layout the 2004 Toyota Alessandro Volta Concept was years ahead of its time. It's like Toyota drew a map to hypercar perfection, and let everyone else run with it.

Some of today's baddest cars, the Porsche 918, The MacLaren P1, The La Ferrari all share this clever format, yet Toyota did nothing with its own...

Ultima's 1050bhp Supercar Is Legal Suicide for £95k

Ultima's 1050bhp Supercar Is Legal Suicide for £95k

There are easier ways to depart this life, but few louder.

With 15 Chevy LS options to choose from to power the new Ultima Evolution, drivers should be able to select exactly as much speed as it takes to pancake themselves into the side of something.

It hits 60 in 2.3 seconds, which is totally something you want to do in a car made in a shed somewhere. If that doesn't morbidly thrill you, it's...

Automakers Are Recycling the Wrong Nameplates

Automakers Are Recycling the Wrong Nameplates

I had an epiphany today about what automakers are doing wrong. I guess I have an epiphany fitting that description everyday, anyway, but this one was I thought was worth sharing: when automakers recycle a nameplate from the past they shouldn't always use revered nameplates. It's about setting expectation.

When Dodge was picking a name for the new Dodge Dart, they completely blew it. Instead of...
