Inaugural long toddler road trip

Inaugural long toddler road trip

From Seattle to Yellowstone. First day at our cabin and we see this right off of the porch:

The toddler did great for two long days in the car. I think we'll keep her.

Labor Day Rallycross

Labor Day Rallycross

This post from one of the founders of NW Rally Association sums it up pretty well:

I can’t describe what an amazing weekend it was. My Neon not only survived, but it performed amazingly well. I ended up in second for stock FWD. Winners were determined for total time over 12 runs spanning 2 days and 1 night, so had I driven a little cleaner, victory could have been mine!

Jumping a stock Neon on...

Aftermarket Seats and Airbags

Aftermarket Seats and Airbags

It looks like a lot of aftermarket seat manufacturers recommend removing the airbag if you install their seats. Is this just a liability thing for them, or is there are you actually safer removing the airbag with an aftermarket seat?

Thoughts?

It's not important how I ended up on a PT Cruiser forum, but...

I found this quote to be funny:

The Cruiser steering wheel is what it is because the designers were attempting to keep the faith with the over all retro style of the vehicle and still squeeze in an air bag. The SRT4 wheel is meant to be generic 2003 sporty car and so is a negative move away from the original intent of the designers.

It’s from this thread where there is a discussion about...

Corvette shout-out at our global employee meeting today

Corvette shout-out at our global employee meeting today

Our biotech instrument updates were compared to the Corvette going from “front-engine” (I know) to mid-engine. Way to know your audience, bud. I guess I enjoyed the reference, at least.

Also, when did memes become acceptable for global corporate presentations? Bad memes, obviously. Ugh, boomers.

Today's notwork thing:

Today's notwork thing:

NW Rally Association puts this on at Dirtfish as part of their annual “Rallycross Fest”. It costs a fraction of a day a Dirtfish, but you still get tons of wheel time and quite a bit of one on one instruction. Only caveats are that you need your own car, and the event sold out in 7 minutes.

It’s really nice to be able to practice these techniques over and over without risking a bad run at...

Shopping for Toyota Sequoias:

They seem nice. Basically a Tundra SUV, right? Bonus points for being able to tow stuff.

Last autocross of the year

Last autocross of the year

Autocrossed all day in Bremerton, WA yesterday. The morning session was very wet and a bit of a shitshow, but entertaining, of course.

A few observations: Yes, that’s a Versa in the background. As a Versa owner myself, I could tell he had some suspension tweaks, but he did pretty well. One of the fastest times of the day was posted by a brand new, bone stock Miata. The driver obviously knew...

Suggestion for Reporters (not political)

Suggestion for Reporters (not political)

When reporting on corporate fines against large companies such as Verizon, Wells Fargo, BP, etc., please specify how long it takes said company to earn the amount of the fine.

For example, the recent FCC fine of Comcast of $2.3 MILLION sounds like a whole bunch of dollars, until you see that their revenue for 2015 was $74.5B. That means it took them about 16 minutes to make the money to pay...

My wife and I are having a daughter! It is our first, so the anxiety and excitement are at about equal levels right now.

In order to accommodate said daughter, my 135i had to go. Yes, I planned on keeping the car, and the gigantic rear-facing carseat would have just barely fit (I bought one and tried it myself)....
