Only God Can Judge Him: Yung Joc Etches Tupac into His Hair—Which Is Quickly Becoming More Famous Than His Music

We’re sure Tupac would be proud.

Rapper and producer Yung Joc continued his follicular adventures last weekend, following up a series of increasingly unexpected lewks with an actual piece of art razored into his acid green-tipped, cornrowed updo: a Juice-era portrait of Tupac Shakur.

The hair art was the creation of Rob the Original, the self-proclaimed “not your average barber,”...

“From one icon to another” read a caption promoting a recent collaboration between Marvel’s Black Panther and the estate of slain rap star Tupac. Rest In Power Afeni Shakur, You Are Appreciated.

We are having what could be considered one of the Blackest years on record. Larry Wilmore dropping the n-word at the White House Correspondent’s Dinner is peak Blackness no matter what side of the "appropriate" aisle you sit on. In fact, in any other year it’s the runaway winner, except moments prior to that moment, President Obama did an actual, true-to-form mic drop while conjuring Kobe...

All Eyez on a Flop

All Eyez on a Flop

When I saw the trailer for All Eyez on Me, the film about the life of the late Tupac Shakur, I thought it looked like a big-budget version of the movies Lifetime made about Aaliyah and Whitney Houston. That is not a compliment. In fact, Aaliyah and Nippy are probably high-fiving each other in heaven right in front of Pac and saying, “Damn, and we thought they did us dirty!”

Even if...

Actress Jada Pinkett Smith is not taking too kindly to the new Tupac biopic, All Eyez on Me, which just opened in theaters Friday on what would have been the hip-hop legend’s 46th birthday.

More specifically, Pinkett Smith is not impressed with the way in which her relationship with Pac—a lifelong childhood friend—was portrayed in the movie, speaking out on a few things in a Facebook...

Jada Pinkett Smith’s Still in Her Feelings About That Tupac Film During an Atlanta Radio Interview

Jada Pinkett Smith’s outrage over the Tupac Shakur film All Eyez on Me has not subsided one bit. During an appearance Wednesday on The Ryan Cameron Morning Show With Wanda Smith on Atlanta radio’s V-103, while promoting her latest film, Girls Trip, with co-star Regina Hall and producer Will Packer, Pinkett Smith had a strong response to Cameron’s inquiry about All Eyez on Me.

All Eyez on Me Star
Demetrius Shipp Jr. on Being Tupac, a Role He Seemed Destined to Play

To say that a Tupac biopic has been a long time coming is an understatement. Perhaps few know that as well as Demetrius Shipp Jr., the icon’s “blink twice” doppelgänger who was originally cast in the role in 2011 and waited through a handful of directors, including John Singleton and Carl Franklin, before Benny Boom, the popular music-video director, completed the film. Whether people love or...
