Slow Depreciating Cars

Slow Depreciating Cars

From the title you can guess what this is about. Show me cars that depreciate really slowly. Yes of course my nomination is the most beloved Pontiac G8 GXP. I don't need to spell out the details to you. It is a car almost every jalop would love to have in their garage. If this car wasn't already being brought into the states, under the fuse of a G8 fist and now and SS, it's one of those...

Which Performance Sedan/Wagons Depreciate The Least?

Which Performance Sedan/Wagons Depreciate The Least?

Which performance sedan/wagons depreciate the least?

I’ve been searching mobile.de (Germany’s Autotrader) for used performance oriented cars lately. A real sports car is not in the mix because a need to haul my surf board or/and my mountainbikes around a lot of the time*. On top I want a smooth ride on long stretches.

I found that Audi’s S/RS-models seem to be hit hardest by depreciation (Audi...

I like the Merc GTS

I like the Merc GTS

I vote this car the most likely newer car that I will purchase used as soon as the price falls off the cliff. I have seen the SLS in SF and I like it but it will never be cheap enough. I think these will fall after seven years or so to an acceptable level. No more warranty, I can put some wicked exhaust on it and hear it loud and clear like my Z.

The effects of financing options on new vehicle value

The effects of financing options on new vehicle value

Needs repeated any time the subject of cash vs leasing vs loans come up:

Option 1: You buy a new car with cash. It depreciates, and is worth less over time.

Option 2: You lease a new car. It depreciates, and is worth less over time.

Option 3: You buy a new car with a loan. It depreciates, and is worth less over time.

There are obviously exceptions, if you happened to buy a BMW 1M or a...

You Can Recreate the “Bling Bling” Music Video for About $35,000

You Can Recreate the “Bling Bling” Music Video for About $35,000

The material virtues extolled in modern rap are much the same as they’ve been for the past thirty-odd years. If anything, the money/clothes/hoes contingent has moved upscale, and the car references are no different. Rappers used to push pricey, yet attainable fare like Beemers and 300E’s. Now the more fortunate gentlemen wake up in new Bugattis, and the numbers 57 and 62 are commonly...

Car Depreciation is a crazy thing

Car Depreciation is a crazy thing

We have..well had a 2012 750Li with a sticker price of 106k when new. It sold yesterday for roughly 35k and no it was not a high mileage car either (39,800 miles).

Infographic: Enthusiast-Oriented Cars that Should Retain Their Value Quite Well

Infographic: Enthusiast-Oriented Cars that Should Retain Their Value Quite Well

I recently found five fun cars (note: external link) I thought were absolute steals to own, like the sleek and elegantly designed Audi RS5 or the reliable and fun IS F. It quickly became my most popular article to date and many emailed and Facebook messaged me asking to come up with other rides.

Challenge Accepted. I also took it one step further. In an effort to try something new, I wanted to...

An exercise in depreciation, Panamera Sport Turismo Edition

An exercise in depreciation, Panamera Sport Turismo Edition

What do you reckon a $95,000 Panamera Sport Turismo will depreciate to in 5 and in 10 years?

I found a ‘13 Platinum AWD in my area for $49,000 with 44k miles on it.

Widening my search I can get down to

$34k/70K/Panamera S (2010)

or

$36k/52K/Panamera 4 (2011)

Provided I stay under 100k miles, I’d really like to be at 50k or less.

Anyway, those new were around $95k, fair? They depreciated 63% on...

Bottom of the Depreciation Curve

Well, you can now buy a clean, top of the line V8 E65 7-Series with 100k miles and a few minor issues for the price of a 10 year old Fiesta.
