Kentucky police “mourn” loss of burned-up Krispy Kreme truck

You’ve got to hand it to these cops in Lexington, Kentucky for going along with a gag. When a Krispy Kreme truck caught on fire about an hour away in Morehead (with no injuries or even loss of product, as the driver had already completed his deliveries), the police who showed up at the scene were quick to take advantage of what looked like the tragic loss of the cops’ traditional favorite...

Please don’t send a scary clown to deliver me doughnuts

Doughnut delivery is a good and pure thing. Once there were no doughnuts, and now, there are doughnuts! But Hurts Donuts, a doughnut chain with locations throughout the Midwest, South, and Southwest, is corrupting this breakfast treat miracle. It is, per Food & Wine, offering doughnut deliveries that arrive by way of purposefully terrifying clown.

This is, I think, an important distinction....

Burger King’s ketchup-piped doughnut Whopper is a better idea than it sounds

First We Feast points us to a story about Burger King in Israel offering the SufganiKing on its menu this month. It’s a hybrid of the Whopper and a sufganiyah, the round jelly doughnut eaten during Hanukkah. In place of fruit jam, the SufganiKing would feature ketchup, of course.

Everyone: Engage your disgust and faux outrage now.

OK, now that the shock of “ketchup,” “doughnut,” and “Whopper”...

“Donut Desperado” has stolen more than a doughnut. He’s stolen my heart. I know, I shouldn’t write in praise of a thief who pilfers the hard work of New Jersey’s fair pastry purveyors, but the heart wants what it wants.

The Donut Desperado was so named by the New Brunswick Police Department, which seeks help in identifying the criminal who not only stole a single doughnut from a Dunkin’, but...

They’ve earned famous fans; they host weddings; it’s a whole thing. Now founders Tres...

And that’s nothing. I urge you, most sincerely, to click through to the Irish Independent and...

It’s hard to know how much a name affects a franchise’s success. Look at McDonald’s, named after the two guys who didn’t even make the burger titan famous. Or Wendy’s, for founder Dave Thomas’ daughter. Still, it’s hard to picture Burger King without burgers in the title. Pizza Hut without pizza. Taco Bell without tacos.

So no wonder the morning fast-food world is reeling today with the news...

As many law enforcement agents know, when you’re trying to catch a perp, it helps to have video evidence. Which made the recent theft of an Anchorage, Alaska police officer’s doughnut a simple case to solve, as the accompanying CBS News video shows that the morning treat was stolen by a greedy squirrel, who grabbed the entire doughnut even though it was about the same size as his body.

First up: Chili’s The Boss Burger. For people who apparently are bored with their time on this earth, People and other outlets are reporting that the burger is “a 1,650-calorie monstrosity. First, the...

Let’s face it: When most of us stop for a doughnut on our way in to work in the morning, we’re not really thinking about our health. Good news for fans of morning sugar: Dunkin’ Donuts kicked off 2018 by announcing plans to make that breakfast stop a little less...

Serial killer fandom is one of those bizarre things I’ll never wrap my head around. But perhaps folks who rock Charles Manson socks (yep, this is a thing) or John Wayne Gacy t-shirts were the target audience of Portland’s Voodoo Doughnut’s this week, when they decided to create a memorial doughnut for the racist who ordered the murders of five people. As for the general non-murdering public,...
