Lifetime finally announces the college admissions scandal movie we all assumed it would make

The college admissions scandal was born to be a made-for-TV movie, what with it involving rich and famous people misbehaving, but it has somehow taken until now for Lifetime—the preeminent destination for made-for-TV-movies—to get around to making a ripped-from-the-headlines TV movie about it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Lifetime just announced a college admissions scandal movie today, and it’s planning to premiere it in the fall.

We don’t have any casting information, but THR says that the movie will be about “two wealthy mothers who share an obsession with getting their teenagers into the best possible college,” so it seems safe to assume that those two wealthy mothers are meant to represent (or maybe literally be) Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman. We already made jokes about who should play Huffman and Loughlin in Annapurna’s unrelated TV series about the scandal back when we wrote about that , with the obvious choice for Loughlin being Stephanie Bennett from The Unauthorized Full House Story, but it’s worth reiterating: Stephanie Bennett from The Unauthorized Full House Story should definitely play Lori Loughlin in one of these things.

Oh, also, Lifetime’s movie is just called College Admissions Scandal, which was a boring name for a scandal and is a worse name for a movie.

Just in case you thought this weekend’s New York Comic Con was all about The Walking Dead, Dread Central says it wasn’t the only zombie-related thing to get some news. Horror director/producer and early Quibi supporter Sam Raimi also had some stuff to announce, and that stuff was specifically that, “there’s more Evil Dead coming.” He also noted that...

Listen, everybody: The Snowpiercer TV adaptation is going to be on TV eventually. We’re not totally sure when, and there’s some question about where, but it is going to be on TV at some point and on some network. AMC releases first images from the teen-friendly Walking Dead spin-off AMC releases first images from the teen-friendly Walking Dead spin-off

We don’t know a whole lot about AMC’s next Walking Dead spin-off, including, you know, the name of it, but that hasn’t stopped the network from offering vague teases about what to expect from the show. So far, though, that has mostly amounted to one thing: teens. That’s what we got in the teaser trailer , and that’s what...

It’s been nearly two years since Zack Snyder’s Justice League came out, and we’re still getting little bits of “evidence” that the fabled “Snyder Cut”—i.e., a version of the film from before Snyder dropped out so he could be with his family in the wake of his daughter’s death, which prompted Warner Bros. to bring in Joss Whedon for...

Billy Eichner is taking on his most challenging role yet—which isn’t a knock on his talents, but we imagine anyone might find it challenging to play Matt Drudge, as Eichner will on American Crime Story: Impeachment. Per Deadline, Eichner has signed on to reunite with Ryan Murphy for the third installment of the critically-acclaimed series, which tracks the Bill...

Chicago, tune into the High Fidelity premiere, early and for free Chicago, tune into the High Fidelity premiere, early and for free

Hulu’s High Fidelity adaptation will once again reimagine Nick Hornby’s classic novel of music and heartbreak: where the 2000 film starring John Cusack transplanted the aesthetic snobbery to Chicago, the new series from Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka sets the story in contemporary (and gentrified) Brooklyn. There are several other significant updates, including casting Zoë Kravitz as Rob, the...

Baby Yoda, as much as his stubborn internet ubiquity tempts us to believe otherwise, is a marvel of heart-melting puppet design. In the space of only a few months since he first toddled onto the screen, the big-eyed, floppy-eared, snub-nosed creature has wormed his way into the nerve centers of modern culture. He has become the world’s collective green...

As Joe Hill (aka the clone Stephen King calls his “son”) says in this new featurette on the making of Locke & Key, it was a rather long road to take his beloved graphic novel series to the small screen. Though only briefly mentioned in the video, it’s not an understatement: There was director Mark Romanek’s adaptation at Fox,...

Disney, not content just to own the bulk of mainstream culture, is determined to rub that fact in everyone’s faces. As the proud owner of this business,...
