This Is The Only Way The Texans Can Stop The Colts From Scoring

Dennis Young Jan 06, 2019. 10 comments

The Colts have a 21-0 lead and a ridiculous 20 first downs at halftime against the Texans, and it would likely be 35-0 if not for two plays.

The first came early in the second quarter. J.J. Watt tipped a pass that was eventually intercepted by Brandon Dunn. Andrew Luck missed a wide-open receiver in the end zone.

The second is the play at the top of this post. At the end of the half, Dontrelle Inman got open for what seemed like a sure touchdown when Kareem Jackson wisely grabbed a fistful of undershirt; the clock ran out before the Colts were able to convert the drive into points. They didn’t punt once in the first half.

USA Track & Field Has Shot Itself In The Dick Yet Again USA Track & Field Has Shot Itself In The Dick Yet Again

No one in the world is better at creating needless controversy and riling up its own athletes and fans than USA Track & Field. Their latest hit: nuking by far its single greatest asset, the Olympic Trials. There are two track meets every four years that casual American sports fans are aware of: the Trials and the Olympics a few...

Grambling State's Shakyla Hill Somehow Records Second Career Quadruple-Double Grambling State's Shakyla Hill Somehow Records Second Career Quadruple-Double

A year and a month ago, Shakyla Hill pulled off one of the rarest stat lines in sports: a quadruple-double in high-level basketball. (Her Grambling State team made the Division I NCAA tournament last year.) Her 15 points, 10 rebounds, 10 steals, and 10 assists against Alabama State was the first women’s quadruple-double since 1993 and the fourth overall;...

Report: The Patriots Blame Tom Brady's Quack Trainer For Gronk's Injuries Report: The Patriots Blame Tom Brady's Quack Trainer For Gronk's Injuries

Rob Gronkowski is hobbled and washed, and Patriots brass at least in part blames Alex Guerrero, Tom Brady’s quack/body advisor. That’s according to a report by the NFL Network’s Michael Giardi: In case you don’t want to watch that video, what Giardi says in it is that:Internally, the Patriots feel like Gronkowski brought some of this on himself. When...

You know how every so often, we’ll get a story about Bill Belichick exploiting some obscure loophole in order to give the Patriots a better opportunity in a certain scenario? What Browns head coach Freddie Kitchens did in Sunday’s 27-13 loss to New England is the opposite of that. The Browns were down 27-10 when they faced a fourth-and-11 situation...

This is all pretty suspicious, no? After last week’s Denver Broncos loss, wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders said, among other criticisms, “We need to call better plays.” He then quickly disappeared off the team in a trade with San Francisco. Now, after the Broncos lost again on Sunday in a heartbreaker to the Colts, and QB Joe Flacco publicly fumed...

Matt Nagy Kind Of Did It To Himself This Time Matt Nagy Kind Of Did It To Himself This Time

Matt Nagy spent most of the offseason openly tormenting himself and his team about the double-doink kick that knocked the Bears out of last year’s playoffs. The stakes behind Sunday’s game-losing miss weren’t nearly as high—nobody is going to remember the Bears losing a game 17–16 in October, because the Bears stink—but that doesn’t mean Nagy won’t have some...

Even When Aaron Rodgers Slips Up, He's Spectacular Even When Aaron Rodgers Slips Up, He's Spectacular

Even with Patrick Mahomes stuck on the sideline, Sunday night’s game between the Chiefs and the Packers played out as an entertaining battle of offenses that kept matching each other blow for blow. But in a fight between the recently un-retired Matt Moore and the god Aaron Rodgers, it was only a matter of time before the latter gained...

The Falcons Are Toast And Dan Quinn Is Getting Crispy On Both Sides The Falcons Are Toast And Dan Quinn Is Getting Crispy On Both Sides

The Falcons are a bad football team. As such, head coach Dan Quinn is expected to not be the head coach for very much longer. But when will Quinn be fired? Now, with a depressing 1-7 record and entering the bye? After the near-inevitable loss to the rival Saints in two weeks? Painlessly and in his sleep on the...

Deshaun Watson Got Kicked In The Frickin' Eye And Still Threw A Touchdown Deshaun Watson Got Kicked In The Frickin' Eye And Still Threw A Touchdown

Texans QB Deshaun Watson can get you out of your seat at a moment’s notice , but he might have outdone himself while throwing a go-ahead fourth quarter touchdown in his team’s game against the Raiders on Sunday.Watson dropped back with his team down four and facing first-and-goal with six-and-a-half minutes to go. On this incredible play, Watson didn’t...

The Broncos Played Like Cowards And Joe Flacco Is Pissed The Broncos Played Like Cowards And Joe Flacco Is Pissed

Jacoby Brissett once again proved himself to be a trustworthy starter on Sunday, leading his Colts to a 5-2 record with a 15-13 late comeback win against the Broncos. Adam Vinatieri got the points that notched the victory, but it was Brissett who made one of the weekend’s best plays anywhere on a football field this weekend, escaping a...

The Browns Turned It Over On Three Consecutive Offensive Snaps The Browns Turned It Over On Three Consecutive Offensive Snaps

The Cleveland Browns came into their game against New England this week with a lot of optimism. Jarvis Landry even guaranteed victory over the defending Super Bowl champs, before recanting a bit.Maybe there was a reason he walked back his prediction. The Browns dug a 17-0 hole against the Patriots today, in part because they turned the ball over...

The Refs Screwed The Bucs Over By Making Them Rely On Jameis Winston The Refs Screwed The Bucs Over By Making Them Rely On Jameis Winston

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were given a lifeline late in their game against the Tennessee Titans on Sunday. On a 4th-and-2, it certainly appeared as though the Titans were lining up to kick the field goal and extend their lead to 30-23. However, when the ball was snapped to Brett Kern he picked it up and tried to run...

The Bears Missed A Field Goal To Lose A Game The Bears Missed A Field Goal To Lose A Game

The Chicago Bears have some *ahem* history with missed field goals , and the failure of Cody Parkey in last season’s playoffs clearly haunted the psyche of coach Matt Nagy all summer . But while this miss—by replacement kicker Eddy Pineiro to lose 17-16 against the Chargers—may not be as significant as a Wild Card loss to the Eagles,...
