No Dinosaurs Were Harmed in the Making of This T-rex Foot Garbage Can

Andrew Liszewski Jun 15, 2018. 5 comments

The illegal wildlife trade is a big problem around the world, leading some species to go extinct at the hands of humanity. But you don’t have to worry about the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service busting down your door to confiscate this T-rex foot garbage can. Dinosaurs are already extinct, and besides, this trophy is made from artificial materials like fiberglass and foam.

You might remember Regal Robot (the company that spun off Tom Spina Designs to create and sell high-end collectibles to fans) for its spectacular Star Wars Dewback sofa that was revealed last year. Shifting its focus to dinosaurs now that a second Jurassic World movie premieres next week , the company’s T-rex garbage can be customized with a unique paint job if you instead want it to look like a dragon, or alternate inserts if you’d rather have a prehistoric spittoon in your office.

Like Regal Robot’s $10,000 Dewback sofa, your T-rex trophy comes with a premium price tag. There’s a good chance you’ve never paid $649 for a trash can before, but you’ve probably also never had the chance to upgrade your office with a memento of a lost species. Until we actually bring dinosaurs back from extinction , this is as close as you’re going to get.

This Live-Action Toy Story 3 Remake Made By Teens Puts My Own Teen Accomplishments to Shame This Live-Action Toy Story 3 Remake Made By Teens Puts My Own Teen Accomplishments to Shame

Think back to your greatest childhood accomplishment, was it making a pot holder out of popsicle sticks? Or maybe beating Super Mario Bros. in a single afternoon? Impressive feats, but Morgan and Mason McGrew spent eight entire years of their childhood using a combination of stop-motion and live-action footage to recreate Toy Story 3. It’s a staggering achievement, and...

You Should Hoard Physical Copies of the Video Games You Love You Should Hoard Physical Copies of the Video Games You Love

When the Nintendo Switch arrived, I decided it was the first console on which I’d buy all my games digitally to improve its portability. I get it. Carnivorous Dinosaur Discovered in Utah Was a True Jurassic Nightmare Carnivorous Dinosaur Discovered in Utah Was a True Jurassic Nightmare

One of the things that really bugs me about the Jurassic Park movies is the prominent role given to Tyrannosaurus rex—a dinosaur that didn’t appear until the ensuing Cretaceous period. I am therefore thrilled to learn about Allosaurus jimmadseni, a newly described apex predator that, unlike T. rex, actually lived during the Jurassic and was sufficiently terrifying enough to...

New Research Casts Doubt on Theory That Volcanoes Caused Dinosaur Extinction New Research Casts Doubt on Theory That Volcanoes Caused Dinosaur Extinction

Scientists have new evidence in their quest to settle the longstanding debate about whether it was a gigantic meteorite or massive volcanic eruptions that triggered the mass extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs. A curious thing about the Cretaceous-Paleogene (K-Pg) mass extinction is that two apocalyptic-scale events happened at roughly the same time. Some 66 million years ago, a...

Smaller but Still Deadly: New Insights Into the Life of Teenage T. Rex Smaller but Still Deadly: New Insights Into the Life of Teenage T. Rex

Tyrannosaurus rex was among the most fearsome carnivores to have ever lived, but this killer still had to endure an adolescent phase.
